Valeria Scinto, alias DJ Val Scinto, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina and with an Italian background. From an early age she was fascinated by records to the point that at the age of six she taught herself how to work her parents sound system just to get the turntable in action. She grew up amongst her brother's best friends, who were recognized DJs in Buenos Aires at the moment, inspired by them and also loved sharing hard to find remixes and music selection with her peers she got her set of turntables, well...actually her cool mom did.
After she finished high school in 1995 she moved to Miami where she often attended clubs like, Pump, Crobar, Salvation, Space, The Living Room and The Mix between others. There she was strongly influenced by local DJs like Murk, Ivano Bellini, Cedric Gervais, Stephan M, David Padilla, Danny Tenaglia, George Acosta, Abel and other djs coming form all over the globe like Shasa & Digweed, Junior Vasquez, etc. Val says, ''When I would head to a club the main thing in my mind was the music, I wanted to learn and absorb as many styles as I could, I didn't care if it was straight or gay or people from another planet, althought that could be really interesting lol!, now because of this way of thinking my following is very diverse and It fulfills me so much to see people of all kinds get together and have an unforgettable experience.
Val attended SAE Institute of Technology where she was trained in turntablelism and mixing techniques. Parallel to this she had her own show at TheWomb.com, which is a live DJ showcase Internet broadcast in the heart of South Beach, along very respected DJs like Tracy Young, Ariel Bound and other local celebrities.
In December 2003 she moved to Los Angeles and shortly after got a DJ residency at The Abbey in West Hollywood where Superstars like Madonna, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Christina Aguilera like to frequent. In the West Coast she learned about other labels and styles that she incorporated into her style, for ex, Tech House
During the 2006 Winter Music Conference, she spun along Tracy Young at the acclaimed South Beach nightclub ''Score'' where she had an amazing impact on the crowd and caught the attention of many local promoters for her unique style. The other DJ playing at the same venue were Danny Tenaglia, DJ Abel and more. Because of her great success at this event she became the resident for ''HEROTICA'', a yearly lesbian oriented mascarade event hosted by respected and very successful promoter Lynn Bove who is Icandee Productions and Siren. Lynn is now involved in the 5 day colossal event for ladies ''AQUAGIRL'', she also made sure that Val will have a spot at the main event in May 2007 and rock the crowd next to DJ Kimberly S.
In February 2007 Val was hired to perform for the GAYVN Awards (Gay Porn Awards) after party at The Porn Palace in San Francisco and it was a great success. The organizers flew a DJ from Australia to be at the main room but everyone was trying to fit where Val was. This was a great experience for Val since she was finally able to show her skills and vibe to the San Francisco crowd and she definitely left them wanting more. The Porn Palace bouncers had to turn down about 300 people, considering they had already let 200 non-invited people in that were coming from the club from across the street where another renowned DJ was playing.
She definitely has an innate ear for great music productions, style and uniqueness, a lovable charisma, limitless possitive energy, tons of passion for music and she knows how to transfer all those uplifting vibes and mind blowing beats and sounds into the crowd’s soul. The way she seamlessly mixes Deep, Tribal, Progressive, Bouncy, Tech, Vocal, Dirty, Sexy House it's delightful. She is an educator, always looking for new music production talent bringing out something new and fresh. She is now working on getting some own productions out the door.
Val also worked at Beacon Street Studios (owner is Hottie and the Blowfish’s John Nau) where she was an Executive Producer and President of The South American/US Hispanic Division. This music house is best known for creating original music scores for TV commercials. Their client list includes Burger King, Mini Cooper, American Airlines, VW, and many others. They won Cannes, Addy Awards and many more. Now Val works at Nomad Editing in Santa Monica, CA were she is pursuing her career as an editor, after effects specialist and director.
